A Coffee with Wings

In an area characterised by poverty and social exclusion, 232 residents in disadvantaged neighbourhoods were consulted and found that the socio-economic problems exacerbated by the current pandemic crisis, such as unemployment, loss of income and social isolation, are having severe consequences on the mental health of the local population - an area previously defined as a priority in the current Local Health Plan. This increase in risk factors can produce or precipitate mental health problems, which in turn will reinforce pre-existing social inequalities. As a solution to this distorting cycle, we intend to develop youth volunteering initiatives based on the symbolic exploitation of a café as a physical space for interaction and proximity, promoting mental health and the quality of life of socially vulnerable individuals, building a solidarity ecosystem where impactful ideas take wing, generating community added value.
