The project for the implementation of the remote management irrigation system, adapted to green spaces, was implemented, aiming at the efficient use of water and a reduction of environmental impacts. 365 remote management units were integrated in Vilamoura and Vila Sol which, through permanent monitoring, manage the opening and closing of the various irrigation circuits, enabling water consumption to be reduced by at least 35%, and also contributing to a reduction in energy consumption. At the same time, the system also includes a weather station that, taking into account information on precipitation and evapotranspiration, manages the activation of irrigation use and adapts the volumes of water to be irrigated, according to needs. The extension and expansion of this system to the whole of Vilamoura and Vila Sol will be an environmental contribution with a great environmental impact.
