The Vilamoura shared-use bicycle system, available throughout the Vilamoura area, has proven to be an important means of soft mobility in the territory and an important alternative to the excessive, expensive and polluting use of motorised means of transport. The Public Bikes system, besides being a pioneer, was also a successful project that influenced the resident community to adopt a healthier lifestyle. This project is a reference in the region, with impact at a national level, due to its size, the success of the project and the power of spreading the use of soft modes in urban environments. Currently, the system is composed of 35 stations and 200 bicycles, designed in materials and finishes with high standards and safety parameters, ensuring easy and comfortable handling.
