Sê Bairrista is an urban regeneration project in which, through participatory methodologies, the beneficiaries actively contribute to the rehabilitation and activation of public space, promoting greater social cohesion in the Alfinetes, Salgadas and Marquês de Abrantes neighbourhoods in the parish of Marvila in Lisbon.

The solution is based on the Placemaking process, defined by the materialisation of activities in which citizens participate in the qualification and activation of public spaces in order to strengthen the connection between people and the spaces they share.

A methodology was implemented that includes actions of mobilisation; ideation; rehabilitation (gardens, stage and gallery - events, plaza, playground, exhibition); and activation.

The project is being developed by Rés do Chão in partnership with Gebalis, the Marvila Library, the Prodac Social Promotion Centre (SCML) and the Marvila Parish Council. The external evaluation was carried out by the Lisbon Institute of Social Sciences.
