The municipality of Tarouca is hosting Sonnedix's largest solar photovoltaic project in Europe and the company's first solar investment in Portugal. This project will guarantee the production of enough energy to power 78,000 homes.

Equinix, the US company that operates data centres, including one in Lisbon, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with renewable energy company Sonnedix, to be supplied with energy from a large-scale solar power plant that will be built in the municipality of Tarouca, in the Viseu district, with a capacity of 149 megawatts (MW).
