The Coastwatch Project is a European project of environmental education for sustainability, citizen science and environmental volunteering, promoted by GEOTA. It consists of walks in Portuguese coastal areas, to observe and record animals, algae, plants, the type of coastal area, possible pollution, risks and threats in the Coastwatch questionnaires or in the GEOTA App, and to collect rubbish. An informed and aware citizen about the importance of the oceans is a citizen capable of making responsible decisions and thoughtful attitudes towards the oceans and their resources, contributing to sustainable development.
