#Arouca #Associação #educação
Education is one of the main areas of work of geoparks, along with geoconservation (conservation of geological heritage) and geotourism, with the aim of sustainable development of the territory. Every year Arouca UNESCO World Geopark develops educational programmes aimed at teachers and schoolchildren from all over the country and beyond, based on the Essential Learnings defined by the Directorate-General for Education and the territory's natural and cultural heritage, as well as its infrastructures. The conservation of the geological heritage, the importance, (d)protection and safeguarding of the natural and cultural heritage, awareness of sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature, climate change and natural disasters are some of the themes explored in the more than twenty field trips prepared for students from pre-school to university level.
