HARBOUR THINK TANKS

#Porto #Associação #Lavadouros #Água #Porto #Esad-Idea #New European Bauhaus
Porto has around 24 lavadouros covering various neighbourhoods in the city. These architectural artefacts (historically linked to women) are gradually becoming obsolete and have enormous potential in relation to the city's challenges. Rethinking public toilets requires understanding the parallel movement between their process of abandonment and the confinement of women in the domestic sphere. The Porto Think Tank Tanks project's approach is particularly committed to the axes of the New European Bauhaus, namely instilling a sense of belonging (with gender equality), reconnecting citizens with nature (through water) and prioritising the people who need it most. In public spaces related to watercourses and neighbourhood relations, the challenge is to recontextualise their essential values to our times and improve their network in the city. Let's think about these tanks!
