The project was created in July 2021 following a decision by Céu Mota, a piano teacher: to act individually in favour of having her parish cleaner (S. Miguel de Souto, Santa Maria da Feira). The idea developed into a wider project, which aims to promote walks with the collection of recyclable waste not only in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira - with the "Plogging in the 31 Parishes of the Municipality" initiative (2nd edition) - but also at national level, with the Plogging Challenge Portugal. This event takes place between 30 March (International Zero Waste Day) and 30 April and aims to challenge/invite the largest number of citizens (autonomous regions and mainland Portugal) to work together on the same mission: taking care of the Common Home while taking care of their physical, mental and social health!
