Participatory Budgeting in the Parish of Santa Maria, São Pedro and Matacães

Participatory Budgeting is an important instrument of participatory democracy that allows people to be involved in deciding part of the budget of the Parish Council of Santa Maria, São Pedro and Matacães. The aim is for citizens to take an active, informed and responsible part in the governance of their parish, thereby promoting a better adaptation of local policies to the needs of the parishioners. The creation of these rules of participation is due to the need to create a set of procedures and rules aimed at the active participation of the population in the implementation of the funds set aside by the Parish Council of Santa Maria, São Pedro and Matacães, in the budget, for the implementation of projects voted for under the Participatory Budget.
