In November 2023, the first seeds of a Miyawaki Forest at Quinta Shiva were planted, marking the beginning of a collaborative effort between Quinta Shiva, Forest Impact and Além Risco. United by our vision that was cherished and supported by Fernando Moital, at the time the pedagogical director of the Além Risco project. This project flourishes as a living tribute to Fernando and as a living laboratory in Évora. From its inception, the area was destined to become an active workshop for sustainable practices, adopting the Miyawaki approach to implementing a dense and diverse ecosystem. Now evolving to also incorporate agroforestry principles, it is on its way to becoming a vibrant showcase of nature at its best. This forest is our contribution to the natural world and a testament to the synergy of projects focused on creating living ecosystems and the lasting legacy of a friend who continues to inspire us all.
