JOÃO ÁLVARO ROCHA - Research and Dissemination Project in Architecture through Oral History

#Maia #Associação
The project aims to make the public aware of what it can be like to work in architecture, raising awareness of the characteristics of the built environment. Based on the life and work of the architect João Álvaro Rocha, six interviews were conducted with people who had a relationship with the architect in the different aspects of his activity: a former pupil, a politician responsible for public commissions, a former partner, a client, a critic and his brother. This project is framed by the concept of Public History, which translates into community involvement at two levels: in its execution and in its dissemination. The execution and preparation of one of the interviews was carried out with a 12th grade arts class from Maia Secondary School. As well as all this material being available at the headquarters of the João Álvaro Rocha Pro-Architecture Association, as a way of drawing attention and spreading the word, a podcast with six episodes and a film have been produced and are being shown in various locations.
