In the context of the Eco-School Organic Gardens programme, with the aim of supporting and promoting the growing interest in creating organic gardens, this project aims to encourage the use of schools' outdoor spaces to grow educational gardens, following the principles of sustainable agriculture. The project not only emphasises the importance of healthy eating and responsible use of the soil, but also provides an educational approach to various topics in the school curriculum. Since its launch in 2012 by the Eco-Schools initiative, this project has gained popularity among schools. In 2022, Carvoeira Primary School, located in the municipality of Mafra, was awarded first place in the "Secrets of the Vegetable Garden" challenge.
