The SEALAND Coast Guide is a field guide that encourages families and schools to get to know the coastline of Torres Vedras in an exciting way. The Guide fits into the multi-perspective of IOC-UNESCO Ocean Literacy and therefore not only identifies elements of local flora and fauna, but also relates them to their environmental, cultural, geographical and historical dimensions. It is printed on plastic, with the aim of promoting its use on the beach, thus ensuring its durability and stands out for its appealing graphic component (which makes it particularly suitable for children from preschool to the end of the 1st cycle) that brings to life characters that interact with the species and places of the coast as well as with the reader, through challenges, suggestions (e.g. recipes with seaweed) and local stories. We use the guides in dynamics with families/schools that can take place 'off the beach' (Beach goes to Park/School) or on the beach, in the tide pools, and we have a system of loan to schools on trial.
