#Loulé #Outro
The creation of a mini-forest at EB Dr António de Sousa Agostinho was the result of a challenge launched by the Municipality of Loulé to the Almancil School Group to apply the principles of reforestation and restoration of degraded land developed by the Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki, to promote the creation of a small, fast-growing forest, with as much community involvement as possible, with the aim of bringing the benefits associated with forests to the urban environment (e.g. sequestration of atmospheric CO2; reduction of chemical and noise pollution; thermal amelioration; improvement of human health; promotion of biodiversity), sequestration of atmospheric CO2; reduction of chemical and noise pollution; thermal amelioration; improvement of human health; promotion of biodiversity), and contribute directly to several of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 - Quality education, SDG 11 - Sustainable cities and communities, SDG 13 - Climate action, SDG 15 - Protecting terrestrial life, and SDG 17 - Partnerships for sustainable development).
