Giving Heart to Life

The Local Health Plan drawn up by the Nordeste Local Health Unit in conjunction with its community partners, which includes the Diabetics Association of Bragança District, identifies cerebrovascular diseases as one of the main problems.Cardiovascular diseases continue to be, in fact, the main cause of death in Portugal and all over the world.The risk factors for their occurrence are several, and recent studies report a high prevalence of them in the Portuguese population as well as a low index of their control, mainly concerning arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus. To aggravate the current cardiovascular situation, it is well known that Sars-Cov-2, may also cause/worsen vascular disease. In this sense this project aims to develop actions that increase the health literacy of the population as well as the provision of favourable conditions for the adoption of healthy lifestyles acting directly on one of the axes of the PLS.
