Dançando com a Diferença began as a pilot project in 2001 on the island of Madeira. At the start of its activity, it wanted to implement Inclusive Dance activities, which were non-existent in Madeira. Then, in 2007, it was set up as an Association with different areas of intervention, such as the cultural axis through its Inclusive Dance company; the Educational Axis, with the dissemination of different Inclusive Dance and Social Inclusion projects and activities in schools; and finally its Therapeutic Axis, helping to prepare people with disabilities for active life, training their autonomy and capacity for self-representation, in a process of active inclusion. Under the Artistic Direction of Henrique Amoedo, creator of the Inclusive Dance concept, in more than 20 years of activity the structure has become a national and international reference, with its activity between the city of Funchal (Madeira) and Viseu, where it maintains an artistic-educational work centre in collaboration with the Viriato Theatre.
