The project arises from the need to raise awareness and sensitise young people to issues related to the Holocaust/Refugees and to understand their significance and importance today. At the heart of the Memory Train is a reflective and critical attitude, generating empathy, without judgement and the realisation that the Holocaust is not just a Jewish issue but a universal concern (racism, denialism, xenophobia, intolerance are not compatible with democracy and endanger it) - so that future generations don't forget it and history doesn't repeat itself. In partnership with Yad Vashem, Memoshoá, the Mémorial de la Shoah and the Aristides de Sousa Mendes Foundation, we have carried out various activities such as train visits to Auschwitz, Casa do Passal, the Vilar Formoso Museum, Fronteira da Paz and the Mémorial de la Shoah; lectures, talks, author meetings, commemoration of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust, cinema cycles, exhibitions...
