CigaGiro - E9G is a project working in the municipality of Vila Verde, in particular with three Roma communities in two parishes, with a total of 230 residents in 66 households. These are rural communities living in conditions of extreme poverty, characterised by precarious housing, known as encampments, without drinking water, electricity or basic hygiene conditions. In this context, we are faced with low levels of schooling and professional skills, high unemployment rates, low academic performance among the student population and discrimination and inequalities in access to political representation and civic participation. The project's aim is to promote the development of skills that will overcome difficulties in the areas of education, training and employment, as well as community dynamisation and citizenship.
