The Óbidos Lagoon Interpretation Centre was a project proposed by the City Council - Association for Citizenship under the Participatory Budget Portugal with the purpose of creating and making available to visitors a set of informative tools to support the interpretation of the place and its history of relationship with local communities, while contributing to the protection, enhancement and transmission of local natural and cultural heritage to future generations. It is coordinated by the League for the Protection of Nature, funded by FCT and Ciência Viva and has the partnership of the municipalities of Caldas da Rainha and Óbidos, and the City Council. The centre has a "Children's Space" and, in addition to thematic information panels in Portuguese and English, there is also a digital space with a detailed interactive map of the Lagoon. The largest room of the centre acts as a meeting point with the local community and visitors, and it is here that various activities are held with the public.
