Efacec was the company chosen to implement the country's first free market solar parks, located in Santiago do Cacém and Castelo de Vide. They occupy a combined area of around 70 hectares.

Bearing in mind that the average home in Portugal consumes 3,700kWh/year, it is possible to conclude that the solar photovoltaic plants will have the capacity to supply around 19,000 more homes with electricity every year, resulting in savings of around 3.3 tonnes of CO2/year.
