The idea of creating a Mediterranean forest on the IPS Setúbal campus was presented at the IPS Sustainable 2022 competition and was awarded 1st prize. From then on, contacts were made to establish partnerships to implement the project in order to enrich the local biodiversity and replicate the concept in the region, namely in the schools of the eco-schools network and the Ciência Viva Clubs. The aim is to enrich, explore and publicise the biodiversity of the IPS campus in Setúbal, taking into account the IPS and surrounding communities, and to contribute to active citizenship in close relation to the IPS natural area. There were 5 days and more than 500 people involved in the planting ceremony in November 2023. Some of the species planted: arbutus unedo, cistus vários, crataegus monogyna, hedera helix, laurus nobilis, lavandula pedunculata, myrtus communis, olea europaea, pistacia lentiscus, quercus várias, rhamnus alaternus, rosmarinus oficinalis, etc.
