BeePathNet

The BeePathNet project, developed by the city of Ljubljana in Slovenia, has been considered a good practice by the European Commission's URBACT programme, and now intends to work together with five other European cities. Amarante has been selected to participate, along with Budapest in Hungary, Bydgoszcz in Poland, Cesena in Italy, and Nea Propontida in Greece. The city of Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia, implemented the "BeePath" programme in 2015, which was born as part of its designation as European Green Capital in 2016, and which aims to develop beekeeping, not only as an economic activity, but also for its role in environmental monitoring, environmental education, and food, thus playing an important role in sustainable development. In the BeePathNet Garden look out for honey plants, right in the centre of the city, which represent for us all the work that has been done in adapting the concept of urban beekeeping to Amarante.
