Economic deprivation, an ageing population, deviant behaviour and long periods of lack of support and adequate social policies have a direct impact on the emotional and psychological state of individuals, which is particularly evident in Campanhã. Inherent in the physical and emotional deterioration is the deterioration of the physical space with permanent outbreaks of unhealthy housing, which jeopardise public health, the deterioration of neighbourly relations and the loss of the permanent residential function of these individuals. Signposts come to JFCampanhã from various organisations, often requesting intervention to solve these problems effectively and with continuity. The lack of institutions dedicated to the problem means that an atypical, urgent, innovative and necessary social response has to be created, aimed at focussed intervention in the residential contexts of the most vulnerable people.
