The "Bairro sem Cárie" project is a prevention, promotion, diagnosis and treatment project in the areas of oral health and nutrition for the most vulnerable people living in the Quinta da Princesa and Jamaica social housing estates in the Seixal municipality. Dental caries is a disease of the oral cavity that mainly affects the most vulnerable people living in the most disadvantaged regions, and this disease can affect social integration, school performance, mental health and general health. In partnership with neighbourhood guardians and residents' associations, the aim is to carry out outreach actions that will allow the dentist to go to the neighbourhood to carry out prevention, promotion, diagnosis of oral health and nutrition, identify disadvantaged people who need dental treatment and publicise the project in the neighbourhood. People who need dental treatment and nutrition consultations will be referred to the Community Oral Health Centre.
