Over the years, Ajudanimal de Pombal has done consistent work in favour of the welfare of dogs and cats in the region. This effort has been possible thanks to the support of various partners, volunteers and the community in general, making it possible to guarantee better living conditions for animals through care, protection, promotion of responsible adoption and awareness-raising activities (adoption campaigns, schools, etc.). Through this work, the Association has encouraged cultural and behavioural changes that contribute to the prevention of abandonment and a more harmonious coexistence between humans and animals. Most of the animals under Ajudanimal's responsibility are in the Valdeira dog shelter or in foster families, both for dogs and cats. In addition, the Association provides support to various cat colonies throughout the city and surrounding areas. A number of partners have joined this cause, including companies that take part in food collection campaigns, giving gift cards - some in partnership with Animalife - or donating out-of-stock products, such as sandbags with small tears in them. Partners include Agriloja, Auchan, Bricomarché, Continente Modelo and Bom Dia, Mercadona, the various gyms in Pombal, as well as the organisation of the Ti Milha Festival. The Municipality of Pombal has also supported Ajudanimal through initiatives such as sterilisations (Municipal Kennel) and adoption campaigns, Bioartes and Bodo. The municipality's schools have also played an important role, promoting solidarity actions such as collecting goods on the occasion of Animal Day. This year, for example, the 6th grade classes at the EBMP made illustrations that were given to the Association with the aim of creating a collection of magnets, the sale of which has benefited the animals taken in. In addition to these partners, it is also important to highlight the involvement of scout groups, Sunday school, the Pombal Motorbike Club, the Pombal Automobile Club, the Pombal Leo Club, the Lions Club, volunteers and numerous citizens from the community, who contribute in different ways to this cause.
