The MediaVeritas Academy is a social innovation initiative, promoted by the Portuguese Press Association, aimed at promoting media literacy in senior communities. The goal is to empower the population over 55 years old to access, analyse, evaluate and act on media messages. Through five weekly sessions, in person or online, for one hour, content for journalism education based on UNESCO is addressed in order to reduce cases of opinion manipulation and online scams. The project is supported by the Municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia and monitored by Fraunhofer Portugal, the entity responsible for impact measurement.
