Before and during Covid19 (AC/DC), the women (M factor) and girls living in Bairro Alfredo Bensaúde, Olivais - Lisbon, were the driving force behind the support to families impacted by Covid19, which has disproportionately affected women and girls since the beginning of the pandemic. With this project we intend to provide a more structured and closer response to the problems identified in the neighbourhood by the residents, enhancing the involvement of women and girls in solving them, contributing to their empowerment and creating the conditions for them to organise themselves and participate actively in the community. Bairro Alfredo Bensaúde was built in 2001 as part of the Special Rehousing Programme (PER) to house families from the neighbourhoods of Qt da Vitória, Calvanas, Qt do Pote de Água, Qt do Louro, Qt das Laranjeiras and Vale do Forno. It is estimated that currently about 1000 people live in the neighbourhood, with a high presence of gypsy and Hindu communities.
