Voz da Comunidade is a community intervention project focussed on combating poverty and social exclusion. One of the premises of this project is the realisation that there can be no project for the local community without the involvement of the community itself. Our aim is to fulfil the aspirations of the residents resulting from the consultations that have already been carried out in the area, in particular the local Roma community represented by 20 Roma families. Social integration is only possible if basic rights are guaranteed, particularly in the health, social and environmental fields. We consider the project to be innovative due to its participatory methodology, which places the local community as an agent of social change. The resident population in the parish of Salvada is 1097 individuals, at a distance of 17 kilometres from Beja, placing this locality on the margins of the main social responses. This project will minimise the impact of social exclusion and give the community a voice.
