Strategies to contain the spread of COVID-19 have impacted the well-being of the majority of the population, especially people who use drugs (PUD) in vulnerable contexts. This population is at greater risk of infection by SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19, aggravated by their social precariousness (homelessness, precarious access to social support, etc.), but also by their health situation (HIV, viral hepatitis, respiratory diseases, etc.). The changes in informal drug markets due to the restrictions imposed on the movement of people and goods reinforce the problems associated with adulteration, increasing the risk of overdoses and other emergencies associated with the consumption of illegal psychoactive substances (PAS). We therefore propose a project to empower this population to implement risk reduction strategies that promote their health and well-being, with a particular focus on preventing COVID-19 and other infections, as well as overdoses and intoxications.
