The promoter of this application is the João Álvaro Rocha Pro-Architecture Association (Apjar) based in Maia, whose reason for existence is the estate left by the professional activity of the architect João Álvaro Rocha (JAR), a well-known name who died prematurely in 2014. As you can see, Apjar's vocation is also to promote architectural quality, in particular by intervening and raising awareness among the population. Of the 57 projects built by JAR, 13 are Special Rehousing Projects (PER), 10 of which are located in Maia, totalling 340 homes in this municipality. The aim is to consolidate this social function of architecture, working in various ways with the inhabitants of Per Bajouca, a heterogeneous population of various age groups living in 66 dwellings, thus simultaneously motivating architectural quality and quality of life. It is hoped that this will be a seminal action and the first of many.
