This is a "Therapeutic Intervention Programme (PIT) with Cognitive and Motor Stimulation in a Sensory Garden", at the Otília Lourenço Home in Abiul, using sensory and motor activities outdoors, in contact with nature. A Sensory Garden is a unique place. Here we can stimulate our senses, relax inside and connect with nature. Calming the mind, reducing stress and restoring cognitive function are the main sensory experiences you can enjoy. Being able to choose between being in the sun or in the shade, etc. contributes to the visitor experiencing psychological and physiological benefits. The plants chosen offer a variety of textures, shapes, aromas, colours and tones. The space is open to the community and other organisations for group and intergenerational activities, by appointment. In addition to its therapeutic function, the Sensory Garden at Lar Otília Lourenço also generates social, economic and environmental impact and contributes to the SDGs.
