"Mondego Limpo tem Mais Encanto" (Clean Mondego has more charm) is an environmental volunteering initiative promoted by the Volunteering Support Office of the Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC). This action is part of the ESEnfC Strategic Plan 2020-2024 and is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. This action is aimed at environmental volunteering as well as social participation in cleaning up the banks of the River Mondego. It helps to encourage active citizenship and good environmental practices among volunteers. ESEnfC students, teachers and non-teaching staff, friends, family members, members of the different partner organisations and civil society take part in this action. It began in 2020 (the year of the Covid-19 pandemic) and the seventh edition was held in September 2023. This initiative encourages and reinforces behaviours that influence the surrounding community, trains more responsible citizens and promotes/enhances the development of soft skills.
