The parish of Vila Marim, in the municipality of Vila Real, is experiencing the national tragedy of seeing its territory increasingly ageing. 28% of the population living in the parish is over 60 years old. The villages, depopulated, place this fringe of the population increasingly isolated and in a situation of unprecedented vulnerability. This pandemic crisis has proved this scourge to us once again. There is an urgent need to develop a more localised service for this population, which is now more vulnerable than ever. To this end, it will be necessary to purchase a van that will take a series of actions to combat isolation on the move. It should be noted that the only service provided to this population is home help. This is provided by Cáritas, a partner organisation, which only has a protocol for 17 users. We cannot continue to see our elderly people age and spend their days in anguish and sadness. This project will be the start of a new stage in this generation that we want to honour and perpetuate.
