URBEM FastForest #2 from the NGO URBEM - Community Nature Connection - was born after the success of the partnership with Lisbon City Council on FastForest #1, a pilot project, and this is the largest mini-forest in Portugal with around 2000m2. Unlike URBEM's 1st mini-forest, this forest prioritises social spaces, with paths and large seating areas so that people can immerse themselves in this space. FastForest #2 has around 2,300 plants of 35 native species. In this mini-forest every Saturday from 10am to 1pm, the surrounding community gathers to take care of the space. Depending on the time of year, these activities can vary from planting, sowing, collecting seeds, weeding, creating compost, pruning, among many others. There are also school visits, team-building activities, meditation sessions, workshops and much more.
