The "AMar" educational programme, developed by the WCO, is the result of ongoing work that began in 2012 and aims to promote Ocean Literacy among the Azorean school public, integrating it into the regional school curricula and adapting it to all levels of education, from pre-school to secondary school.
curricula and adapted to all levels of education, from pre-school to secondary school.
Over the years, "AMar" has evolved and consolidated itself as a benchmark programme in the region, and is currently fully implemented on the island of Faial. The "AMar" Educational Programme provides an informal learning experience that brings children and young people closer to the sea, forming informed and active citizens in the defence and preservation of the Azores' marine ecosystems.
